Aircraft Pushback Tractors

Aircraft Pushback Tractors, also known as aircraft tugs, are used to manoeuvre aircraft around airports. They are primarily used to push an airplane back from the gate and onto the aircraft movement area. They are also used to move aircraft to other locations at the airport, such as maintenance hangars.

There are two types of aircraft pushback tractors:

Conventional aircraft tugs use towbars connected to an aircraft’s nose wheel to push it.

Towbar-less aircraft tractors scoop up the aircraft noise wheel and lift it off the ground before moving, removing the need for multiple towbars for different aircraft types.

Schopf F180 Aircraft Towing Tractor

The SCHOPF F180 is an aircraft towing tractor with 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering.

This tractor consists of a sturdy and rigid frame of welded construction. The front axle is mounted to the frame by semi-elliptic laminated leaf springs. The rear axle is rigidly mounted. Engine, full-power-shift transmission and hydraulic system as well as all other components are placed within the frame, easily accessible for repair and maintenance work. Engine and transmission can be removed as one unit.
