CELEBRATING APPRENTICESHIP WEEK: GEMMA'S JOURNEY AT RUSHLIFT GSE

February 10, 2025

As National Apprenticeship Week gets underway, we shine a light on an inspiring apprentice making strides in the GSE industry. Gemma, a second year Rushlift GSE apprentice, her journey so far has been one of growing confidence, hands-on learning and embracing new challenges.

Since our last conversation, Gemma has made significant progress. She has gained more confidence in working on the vehicles and is now actively engaging in conversations about faults and diagnostics. This growth reflects her increasing technical expertise and her ability to contribute valuable insights within her team.

One of the key aspects of Gemma’s development has been the strong relationship with her mentor. She describes them as both supportive and trusting, consistently encouraging her to step out of her comfort zone while ensuring her safety. This balance has helped Gemma push her boundaries and take on tasks she might not have attempted otherwise.

Like any apprenticeships, Gemma’s journey comes with challenges. For her, the biggest hurdle is keeping up with the vast amount of information shared by her colleagues. However, she remains determined to absorb as much knowledge as possible, recognising that every conversation and experience contributes to her professional growth.

For those considering an apprenticeship, Gemma’s message is simple “Do it. Give it a go. It makes things a lost simpler and easier to cope with when your work is also your education.” Her experience highlights how apprenticeships seamlessly blend learning and hands-on experience, making the transition from education to industry smoother and more engaging.

At Rushlift, we are incredibly proud of apprentices like Gemma, who show resilience, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. As we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we acknowledge the dedication of our apprentices and look forward to seeing them continue to excel.
